Trade name:
English name: Ampicillin Sodium Soluble Powder
Pinyin: Anbianxilinna Kerongxingfen
[Main Ingredients] Ampicillin Sodium
[Description] This drug is of white or off-white powder.
[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Ampicillin belongs to the β-lactam class of antibiotics and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Its antimicrobial activity against most Gram-positive bacteria is slightly weaker than that of penicillin, and it is sensitive to penicillinase, thus ineffective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. Besides, it has strong activity against Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, Haemophilus, Brucella, and Pasteurella, but these bacteria are prone to developing resistance. It is also not effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Pharmacokinetics: Probenecid can delay the excretion of this drug, increase blood concentration and extend the half-life.
[Drug Interaction] ① Ampicillin sodium has incompatibilities with the following drugs: Erythromycin ethylsuccinate, erythromycin lactobionate, oxytetracycline hydrochloride, tetracycline hydrochloride, aureomycin hydrochloride, kanamycin sulfate, gentamicin sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, lincomycin hydrochloride, polymyxin B sulfate, calcium chloride, calcium gluconate, B vitamins, vitamin C and so on. ② When used in combination with aminoglycosides, it can increase the concentration of the latter within the bacterial body and show a synergistic effect. ③ Macrolides, tetracyclines, and amido alcohols, which are fast-acting bacteriostatic agents, interfere with the bactericidal action of this product and should not be used together.
[Function and Use] β-lactam antibiotics, for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria sensitive to ampicillin, such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus, and Streptococcus infections.
