[Main Ingredients] Kitasamycin

[Description] This drug is of white or off-white powder or granules.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Kitasamycin is a macrolide antibacterial drug. Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to that of erythromycin, and its mechanism of action is the same as that of erythromycin. Sensitive Gram-positive bacteria include Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), pneumococcus, Streptococcus, Bacillus anthracis, erysipelas, Listeria, Clostridium putrefaciens, Clostridium emphysematous, etc. sensitive Gram-negative bacteria include Haemophilus influenzae, meningococcus meningitidis, Pasteurella, etc. In addition, it also has a good effect on mycoplasma. The antibacterial effect on most Gram-positive bacteria is slightly inferior to erythromycin, the antibacterial effect on mycoplasma is similar to tylosin, and it is also effective on some Gram-negative bacteria, Rickettsia and spirochetes, and the effect on drug-resistant staphylococcus aureus is better than erythromycin and tetracycline.

Pharmacokinetics: This drug can be well absorbed by oral administration and reach the peak concentration in blood after 2 hours. It is widely distributed in major organs, and the its concentration in liver, lung, kidney, and muscle is relatively high, often exceeding the blood concentration. It is mainly excreted by the hepatobiliary system and has a high concentration in bile and feces. A small amount is excreted through the kidney.

[Drug Interaction] (1) Kitasamycin and other macrolides, lincosamide, and chloramphenicol should not be used at the same time because of the same target.

(2) It shows antagonistic effect when combined with β-lactams.

[Function and Use] Macrolide antibiotics, for the treatment of infections such as Gram-positive bacteria, mycoplasma, and leptospira.

[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of this drug. Mixed feeding: per 1000kg of fodders, 800-3000g for pigs (80,000,000-300,000,000 units) and 1000-3000g for chickens (100,000,000-300,000,000 units), administered for 5-7 consecutive days.

[Adverse Reaction] After oral administration, animals may have dose-dependent gastrointestinal dysfunction (vomiting, diarrhea, intestinal pain, etc.), with a lower incidence than erythromycin.

[Precautions] This drug cannot be used for hens laying eggs for human consumption during the laying period.

[Withdrawal Period] 7 days for pigs and chickens.
