[Main Ingredients] Tylvalosin tartrate
[Description] This drug is of off-white or light yellow powder.
[Pharmacological Action] Tylvalosin tartrate is a macrolide antibiotic specifically used in animals, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and thereby suppressing bacterial proliferation. Its antibacterial spectrum is similar to tylosin, showing strong activity against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (including penicillin-resistant strains), Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus, Bacillus anthracis, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Clostridium perfringens, Clostridium emphysematous, etc. It is effective against Gram-positive bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics but has almost no effect on Gram-negative bacteria. It exhibits potent antibacterial activity against septicemic and synovial mycoplasma. Bacteria do not easily develop resistance to this drug.
[Drug Interaction] ① It has an antagonistic effect with chloramphenicol and lincomycin; they should not be used together. ② Co-administration with β-lactam drugs (as bacteriostatic agents) can interfere with the bactericidal efficacy of the former; they should not be used together when rapid bactericidal action is required.
