[Main Ingredients] Oxytetracycline hydrochloride
[Description] This drug is of light yellow powders.
[Pharmacological Action] Tetracycline antibiotics. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit receptors in bacteria in a reversible manner, disrupting the complex formation between tRNA and mRNA, halting peptide chain elongation, and thus inhibiting protein synthesis, which rapidly suppresses bacterial growth and proliferation. This antibiotic is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and cross-resistance is observed in bacteria to oxytetracycline and doxycycline.
[Function and Use] Tetracycline antibiotics, for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella, and Mycoplasma in pigs and chickens.
[Dosage and Administration] On the basis of this drug. Mixed drinking: 0.5-1g per 1L of water for pigs; 0.75-1.25g per 1L of water for chickens, administered for 3-5 consecutive days.
[Adverse Reaction] Prolonged application may lead to secondary infections and hepatic impairment.
[Precautions]
(1)Co-administration with penicillin-class drugs and substances containing calcium, iron salts, or polyvalent metal ions is not recommended for this drug.
(2)Concurrent use with potent diuretics can aggravate renal impairment.
(3)Mixing with chlorinated water or alkaline solutions is not advisable.
(4)This drug is contraindicated in animals with severe hepatic or renal dysfunction.
[Withdrawal Period] 7 days for pigs, 5 days for chickens; 2 days for the egg discarding period.
