[Veterinary Drug Name]

Generic name: Ivermectin Injection

Trade name: Yilinuo

English name: Ivermectin Injection

Pinyin: Yiweijunsu Zhusheye

[Main Ingredients] Ivermectin

[Description] This drug is of colorless or almost colorless and slightly viscous transparent liquid.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Ivermectin mainly has a good repellent effect on nematodes and surface arthropods in vivo. Its anthelmintic mechanism is to promote the release of γ -aminobutyric acid (GABA) from presynaptic neurons, thus opening GABA-mediated chloride channels. For glutamate-mediated chloride channels in nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates near GABA-mediated sites, ivermectin also has selectivity and high affinity, thus interfering with signal transmission between neuromuscular cells, making the worms slack and paralyzed, resulting in the death or excretion of the worms. The inhibitory intermediate neurons and excitatory motor neurons of nematodes are their action sites, while the action sites of arthropods are neuromuscular junctions. For cattle and sheep, the repelling rate of adult haemonchus, Ostertagia, Cooperia, Trichostrongylus (including Trichostrongylus ehrlichioides), strongyle, Bunostomum, Nematodirus spp, Trichocephalus, Oesophagosto-mum, Dictyocaulus, Chabertia ovina and the fourth stage larvae is 97%-100%. It is also effective for arthropods, such as maggots, mites and lice. The curative effect on lice and sheep ked is slightly poor. Ivermectin is also very effective against ticks and flies breeding in feces. Although the drug cannot kill ticks immediately, it can influence feeding, molting and oviposition, thus reducing reproductive capacity. The effect on Haematobia is similar. It has a repelling rate of 94%-100% against pig roundworm, adult and immature Hyostrongylus rubidus, Strongyloides ransomi, Trichuris trichiura, Oesophagosto-mum, Metastrongylus elongatus, Stephanurus dentatus Diesing. In addition, it is very effective against Trichinella spiralis in the intestine (ineffective against Trichinella spiralis in the muscle), and also has a good control effect on Haematopinus suis and Sarcoptes suis. It is ineffective against trematodes and tapeworms.

Pharmacokinetics: Due to different animal species, dosage forms and administration routes, the pharmacokinetics of ivermectin varies significantly. The bioavailability of subcutaneous injection is higher than that of oral administration, but oral administration has faster absorption than subcutaneous injection. After absorption, it can be well distributed to most tissues, but it is not easy to enter cerebrospinal fluid. The apparent distribution volumes of cattle, sheep and pigs are 0.45-2.4L/kg, 4.6L/kg and 4 L/kg respectively. For most animals, it has a long half-life, which is 2-3 days, 2-7 days and 0.5 days for cattle, sheep and pigs respectively. This drug is metabolized in liver, mainly hydroxylated in cattle and sheep, and methylated in pigs. It is mainly excreted from feces, and less than 5% is excreted from urine as prototype or metabolite. Up to 5% of the dosage is discharged from milk in female lactation animals.

[Drug Interaction] When this drug is used together with diethylcarbamazine, severe or fatal encephalopathy may occur.

[Function and Use] Macrolide antiparasitic drug, for the prevention and treatment of livestock nematodiasis, acariasis and other parasitic insect diseases.

[Dosage and Administration] Subcutaneous injection: 0.02 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for cattle and sheep, and 0.03 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for pigs.

[Adverse Reaction] (1) When this drug is used to treat cattle dermatomycosis, with killed larvae being in key parts, serious adverse reactions will be caused.

(2) Discomfort may be felt or temporary edema may be observed at the injection site during the process of injection.

[Precautions] (1) Cows and sheep that produce milk for human consumption should not be used during lactation period.

(2)The injection dose at each subcutaneous injection point should not exceed 10ml.

(3) Ivermectin is highly toxic to shrimps, fish and aquatic organisms, and the residual drugs and packaging should not pollute the water source.

[Withdrawal Period] 35 days for cattle and sheep, and 28 days for pigs.
