[Main Ingredients] Doramectin
[Description] This drug is of colorless or faint yellow transparent oil liquid.
[Pharmacological Action] Doramectin is derived from the fermentation of a new strain of recombinant avermectin (Streptomyces avermitilis) and is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic agent. It is effective against a wide range of internal and external parasites, particularly certain nematodes (roundworms) and arthropods, but ineffective against tapeworms, flukes, and protozoans. In addition, its mechanism of action primarily involves increasing the release of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in parasites, so as to block the transmission of neural signals, and cause muscle cells to lose their ability to contract, as well as the death of the parasites. Mammalian peripheral nerves use acetylcholine as their neurotransmitter, which is not affected by doramectin. Therefore, doramectin does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, pose minimal risk to the central nervous system, and makes it relatively safe for livestock.
