[Description] This drug is of colorless to faint yellow transparent liquid.

[Pharmacological Action] Pharmacodynamics: Florfenicol is an amide alcohol broad-spectrum antibiotic and acts by binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosome and inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins as an inhibitor. It has strong antibacterial activity against a variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae are highly sensitive to florfenicol. In vitro antibacterial activity of florfenicol against many microorganisms is similar to or stronger than that of thiamphenicol, and some bacteria that are resistant to amide alcohols due to acetylation, such as Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, etc., may still be sensitive to florfenicol.

This drug is mainly used for the treatment of bacterial diseases of pigs, chickens and fish caused by sensitive bacteria, such as respiratory system diseases of cattle and pigs caused by Pasteurella haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae; typhoid fever and paratyphoid fever caused by Salmonella, chicken cholera, chicken white dysentery and Escherichia coli infection; bacterial septicemia, enteritis and red-skin disease of fish caused by fish Pasteurella, vibrio, Staphylococcus aureus, Aeromonas hydrophila and enteritis bacteria, etc.

Pharmacokinetics: Florfenicol can be quickly absorbed after being taken orally and reach the therapeutic concentration in blood after about 1 hour and peak blood concentration in only 1-3 hours. Its bioavailability is above 80%. Florfenicol is widely distributed in animal bodies and can penetrate the blood brain barrier. It is excreted in its original form with a little excreted in feces.

[Drug Interaction] (1) Macrolides and lincosamides have the same target point of action as this drug, which is binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome and may produce mutual antagonism when used together.

(2) This drug may antagonize the bactericidal activity of penicillins or aminoglycosides, but the action has not been demonstrated in animals.

[Function and Use] Amide alcohol antibiotic, for the treatment of Pasteurella and Escherichia coli infection.

[Dosage and Administration] Intramuscular injection: 0.067 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for chickens, 0.05-0.067 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for pigs, injection once every 48 hours and two consecutive injections; 0.0017-0.0034 ml/time per 1kg of body weight for fish, once a day.

[Adverse Reaction] This drug has a certain immunosuppressive effect when used at doses higher than the recommended dose.

[Precautions] (1) This drug cannot be used for hens laying eggs for human consumption during the laying period.

(2) It should be used with caution for breeding chickens and for pregnant and lactating livestock as it has embryotoxicity.

(3) It is prohibited for animals in the vaccination period or with severe immune deficiency.

(4) The dose should be reduced or the administration interval should be extended for affected animals with renal insufficiency.

[Withdrawal Period] 14 days for pigs, 28 days for chickens, 375 degree-days for fish.
